Pinging Mobile Devices

YoucanpingdevicesthatarecurrentlyinrangeandrunningtheEnabler.Thisisnotan

ICMP-levelping,butratheranapplication-levelstatuscheck.Thisfeatureindicateswhether

themobiledeviceisactiveornot.

To ping a device:

1 IntheAvalancheConsole,selecttheInventorytab.

2 Enablethecheckboxtotheleftofthedevicethatyouwanttoping.

3 ClickPing.

TheStatuscolumnintheMobileDevicespaneldisplaysthestatusofthepingrequest.

Configuring Mobile Device Properties

Mobiledevicepropertiesconsistofpre-definedandcustomproperties.Pre-definedproperties

aredevice-specificanddependentontheversionoftheEnablerrunningonthemobiledevice.

Custompropertiescanbeassociatedwithindividualmobiledevicesorwithmobiledevice

groups.Propertiescanbeusedasselectionvariablesinselectioncriteriatocontrolwhich

devicesreceiveparticularupdates.

TheEnablerreportspropertiestothemobiledeviceserverwhenitconnectsforanupdate.The

AvalancheConsoledisplaysthesepropertiesinthemobiledevicedetails.

Viewing and Editing Properties

YoucanviewthepropertiesassociatedwithaspecificmobiledeviceintheMobileDevice

DetailspageoftheAvalancheConsole.Someofthepre-definedproperties(andallofthe

customproperties)supporteditingofvalues.Whenyouchangethevalueofaproperty,the

newvalueisdownloadedtothemobiledeviceatthenextupdate.

To view the properties associated with a mobile device:

1 IntheAvalancheConsole,selecttheInventorytab.

2 Clickthenameofthedevicewhosepropertiesyouwanttoview.
